* Nitrogen (N2)

There’s tons of it in the air - about 78% by volume, so luckily, it’s not a poisonous gas - it’s also colourless, tasteless, and, odourless - plus, it’s pretty unreactive thanks to the covalent triple bond formed between the two nitrogen atoms.
Great stuff… well, it would be, but organisms need nitrogen for making DNA, proteins, and other essential biomolecules.
However, fear not - the Haber process, some microbes, as well as lightning, can make nitrogen more accessible for life to use.
